2000 Dodge Durango Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: In front of the intake manifold and close to the generator at the rear, the engine coolant temperature sensor is found in a water jacket. Before removing the sensor, partly drain the coolant in the system to avoid being hurt by hot, pressurized fluid. Remove the connector from the sensor, taking care not to tug on the wiring if your car has air conditioning; use an L-shaped hook about eight inches long to gently lift off the connector, since it is held on without a lock. After the old sensor is out of the intake manifold, set in the new one and tighten it to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). Use long needlenose pliers to attach the electrical connector to the sensor, paying attention so that the symmetrical connector can be set up either way. Replacing any lost coolant from the engine should be your final step.
