2001 Dodge Durango Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install a Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2001 Dodge Durango?
A: The engine coolant sensor is found in a water jacket at the front of the intake manifold just before where the generator connects. Partially drain the cooling system first, so that the sensor can be removed safely without hot pressure. If your car has air conditioning, lift the electrical connector off the sensor by hooking it with an L-shaped piece of metal around eight inches long from a coat hanger rather than by grabbing the wire harness. When you're done with the scan, remove the sensor from its spot on the intake manifold. After putting the sensor back into the water jacket, make sure the torque reaches 8 ft. lbs. (11 Nm). With long needle nose pliers, attach the electrical connector to the sensor, since the connector is the same on both sides. Once all is done, put in the new engine coolant for your car.
