2000 Dodge Neon Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Speed Sensor on the NV T350 (A-578) Manual Transaxle on 2000 Dodge Neon?
A: To carry out any service or repair on the Vehicle Speed Sensor of the NV T350 (A-578) Manual Transaxle, start with raising the vehicle Cut off the speed sensor connector and make sure the location around the sensor is clean to stop any dirt from going inside the transaxle after removal. After carefully removing the speed sensor retaining bolt, extract the speed sensor from the transaxle and don't let the sensor drive gear go inside the transaxle; if it does slip in, you'll have to reattach it to the sensor. After that, take out the drive gear from the speed sensor. Secure the pinion gear to the speed sensor during installation and finally use a new O-ring to place the sensor back in the transaxle. Adjust the bolt so it's tightened to 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.) and connect the speed sensor wire afterward. Once the vehicle is lowered, test its speedometer by driving it around a bit.
