2000 Dodge Viper Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Downstream Oxygen Sensor on 2000 Dodge Viper?
A: For downstream O2 sensor service, lift and support your vehicle first. Remove the electrical connector from the heated oxygen sensor without yanking the wire. You need an oxygen sensor crow foot wrench such as YA8875 by Snap-On, to take out the sensor. After removing the gasket, wipe down the screw threads with a tap of 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E. For the original sensor, use an antiseize compound such as Loctite 771-64 and don't add it to new sensors, as they are already sealed; when you do, use them without touching the compound. Install the sensor using the oxygen sensor crow foot wrench, but tighten it only to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, reattach the sensor and lower your car to the ground.
