2000 Dodge Viper Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install an Ignition Coil on 2000 Dodge Viper?
A: The system has two coil packs, each containing epoxy and placed behind the engine on a bracket. The left coil pack manages three coils firing cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7. The right coil pack is responsible for 2 coils and ignites cylinders 5, 8, 9 and 10. Open the cowl cover, detach the electrical connector from the coil and remove the screws that are holding the pack in place. Swap the spark plug cables one at a time from the old coil pack to the same terminals on the new one. To install, set the coil pack into place, fasten its bolts to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) torque, attach the electrical cable and put the cowl cover back on.
