2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: To start service of the turn signal switch, first disconnect and isolate the negative cable on the battery. Take out the screw attaching the lower tilting steering column shroud to the switch mounting housing, then pull the shroud apart and remove it from the column. Separate the connector at the instrument panel wire harness from the receptacle on the turn signal and hazard warning switch. Second, open the left multi-function switch by removing the two screws on its housing and pull it out. Set the left multi-function switch into the mounting housing and insert and tighten the two screws to 2.5 Nm (22 in. lbs.). Attach the wire harness from the instrument panel to the receptacle of the multi-function switch on the left. Slide the lower tilting shroud assembly beneath the steering column and install and tighten the screw in the housing until the force reaches 1.9 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Remove the steering column shroud cover and lay it over the lower shroud, with the hazard warning switch button set through the upper shroud, then snap the shroud together at the three aligning marks. Now, secure the negative terminal of the battery to its original port.
