The first step to adding the left switch is to prevent accidental air bag deployment by disconnecting the negative battery cable and wait for two minutes. Move the left multi-function switch to the back of the Steering Control Module (SCM) and plug its connector into the SCM. First, bring the locating tabs of the switch housing and SCM together, then attach the switch to the SCM locating tabs with the two provided screws and tighten them to torque of 0.35 Nm (3 in. lbs.) After that, add the upper and lower shrouds to the steering column and attach the negative battery cable.

To service the left multi-function switch, begin by removing and isolating the battery negative cable to disable the air bags for two minutes which gives the air bag system capacitor time to clear. First, remove the lower tilting steering column shroud and next, unclip both halves of the steering column shroud to take them apart. Pull the instrument panel harness connector out of the switch connector and take out the screws securing the left multi-function switch as well. Attach the housing to the left multi-function switch after installation and then use screws and tighten them to 2.5 Nm (22 in. lbs.). Fix the instrument panel wire harness connector to the switch connector and next, reposition the lower stomp on the steering shroud and secure with a screw, doing so to 1.9 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Raise the upper portion of the steering column so it fits into the shroud and press the two shrouds together. Attach the negative battery cable once more.
