How to Replace a Faulty Driver Side Air Bag Module on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

YCosTo take out a faulty air bag module in the driver's seat, disconnect the battery negative cable first and wait two minutes if the air bag has not triggered. Two screws are holding the driver side air bag module in place on the wheel; remove these from the underside and then take out the module to reach the wire connectors. Unplug the steering wheel wire harness from the horn switch feed wire and softy pull the snap-fit connection from the air bag module. After taking out the driver's air bag, check if the Clock Spring needs to be replaced if the air bag is deployed. Check that nothing gets inside the driver side air bag module during installation and that its trim cover is not painted. Once a click is heard after connecting the Clock Spring air bag wire harness, it's safe to reconnect the steering wheel wire harness connector. Put the driver side air bag module inside the steering wheel and make sure the wires are not caught in the way. Then tighten the two mounting screws to about 90 in. lbs. Don't attach the negative battery cable once the battery is out.
