2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Washer Reservoir on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: First, you should disconnect and chain the battery negative cable, then take out the liner from the left front fender wheel house and remove the air cleaner housing from the top of that same wheel house. Remove the washers reservoir hoses links from the engine compartment washer hoses at the fender in-line connectors on the left front side of the fender. Pop off the washer reservoir filler cap by snapping the hinge away from its hook, then unscrew the securing screw from the left inner fender shield. Tilt and rest the vehicle once it is in position and remove the left headlamp and dash harness connectors from the washer pump connectors on the backside. Take out the screws retaining the inboard mounting tab of the washer reservoir to the inner left wheel house and push the bottom of the reservoir backward to reach the washer fluid level sensor wire connector. Unplug the left headlamp and dash wire harness connector from the washer fluid level sensor connector receptacle and then gently pull the washer reservoir rearward to come free from the outboard side tab. Turn the washer reservoir to clean the front suspension and lower the car to pull the filler neck out from under the hood, then remove the washer reservoir from the left front fender wheel house. Align the washer tank in the left front fender wheel house, push the filler neck through the hole in the extension to raise it in the engine and make sure the front suspension mount tab is on top. Raise the drain outlet rearward so that the rear mounting tab on the inner fender is connected, then access the washer level sensor receptacle on the reservoir's front and attach the left headlamp and dash wire harness connector. Screw in and tighten the connector between the inboard mounting tab on the reservoir and the left inner wheel house to a torque of 7.4 Nm (66 in. lbs.). Then, attach the left headlamp and dash wire harness connectors to the washer pump connectors, lower the vehicle and connect and tighten the screw holding the reservoir filler neck to the left inside fender shield to 7.4 Nm (66 in. lbs.). Install the washer reservoir filler cap hinge onto the hook on the filler neck, snap the cap closed, link the washer reservoir hoses to the engine compartment washer hoses at the connectors, set the air cleaner housing on the left front fender, replace the liner in the left fender wheel house and reattach the negative side of the battery cable.
