2000 Jeep Wrangler Exhaust Heat Shield Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Exhaust Heat Shield on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before you do anything else, raise and support the vehicle to work on the heat shield. Take out the screws or nuts attaching the heat shields to the frame or floor pan. You must remove the muffler front support bracket before you remove the muffler heat shield. Push the shields out onto the exhaust system. Install the heat shields below the floor pan or frame and put the screws or nuts in place, tightening them to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.); then position the vehicle to the ground.
