2001 Jeep Wrangler Exhaust Heat Shield Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Exhaust Heat Shield on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should raise and support the vehicle during the heat shield maintenance. Take out the nuts or screws holding the heat shields to the frame and the floor pan. You should not try to remove the muffler heat shield until the muffler front support bracket has been taken off. Raise the shields out from around the exhaust. Put the heat shields against the floor pan or frame and mount them with screws or nuts. Screw or tighten all the nuts to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) prior to lowering the vehicle.
