2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install a Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: You will find the engine coolant temperature sensor close to the front of the cylinder head. Open the air cleaner cover, disconnect the makeup air tube and next disconnect the negative battery cable. With the engine cold, release all the coolant so that it drops below the sensor level. After that, separate the electrical connector from the coolant sensor and get rid of the sensor. For putting in the sensor, attach it and tighten it till it reaches a torque of 19 ± 2 Nm (14 ± 2 ft. lbs.). Work your way back by plugging in the electrical connector, filling up the cooling system, connecting the negative end of the battery cable and putting the air cleaner lid and their make-up air hose back on.
