  • Q: How to Maintain a Wiper Switch for Optimal Performance on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A: First, open the hood and disconnect the battery negative cable in order to service the front windshield wiper/washer switch. Following that, take out both the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Cut off the posi-lock harness connectors at the rear of the multi-function switch, then remove the screws holding the switch inside the vehicle. Unlock the two torx screws that hold the wiper/washer switch in place on the multi-function switch and take them apart. Place the new wiper/washer switch next to the multi-function switch, then hold it in place with the two screws. Installing the multi-function switch should be followed by tightening the mounting screws for 3 Nm or 27 in. lbs. Make sure the harness connectors on the rear of the multi-function switch and front wiper/washer switch stick outward. Reattach the two ends of the steering column sheath, reconnect the battery negative wire, close the hood and run some tests to confirm everything works.
