How to Maintain a Heater Core on 2001 Dodge Dakota?

Service the heater core by removing the air bag system beforehand, by isolating the vehicle's battery with a negative cable and by waiting two minutes after so that the air bag system becomes safe to work on. Empty the cooling systems, then pull aside the heater-A/C unit in your car. Separate the HVAC housing so that you can remove the heater core from inside it and lift the core out. Install the new heater core at the bottom of the heater-A/C housing, restore the housing and set it back into the vehicle. After the service, replace any coolant the system lost by refilling it.
