2001 Dodge Dakota A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace and Maintain an A/C Hose for Optimal Performance on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: You should start by isolating and removing the negative battery cable and after that, recover the refrigerant from the A/C system before replacing the line. Release the fasteners securing the wire harness connector to the a/c pressure transducer switch, unclamp or remove the couplers holding the refrigerant lines at the condenser and accumulator and always place plugs or tape over the fittings you open. After that, unhook the support bracket fastener by the compressor and unscrew the screw on the refrigerant line manifold. This time, you should cover all opened refrigerant line ends with plugs or tape before taking out the whole suction and discharge line assembly. At installation, unplug or remove the tape from the line fittings and screw the line couplers into the condenser and accumulator. Keep the fasteners tight at 22 ± 3.38 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.). Secure the refrigerant line manifold to the compressor, turn the mounting screw 22 Nm (200 in. lbs.) and then connect the fastener securing the refrigerant line support bracket near the compressor, tightening its mounting screw 6.77 Nm (1.7 U.S in. lbs.). After attaching the wire harness connector to the pressure transducer switch, connect the battery negative cable, drain the refrigerant system and then charge it back up. Always make sure that the flexible lines of refrigerant hoses are not kinked or bent too sharply, are at least ten times wider than their diameters, are far from the exhaust manifold at 80 millimeters (3 inches) and that all connections are strongly joined and airtight. It is necessary to inspect any flexible hose refrigerant lines at least once a year to be sure they have no damage and are routed correctly.
