2001 Dodge Dakota A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Ensure Proper Installation and Performance of an A/C Condenser Before and After Removal on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: Notice where each of the radiator and condenser air seals are attached before removing the condenser, because they guide air through both components and must be put back correctly. The first step is to remove the battery negative cable and afterwards remove the refrigerant from the system. Take off the refrigerant line fitting on the discharge line at the condenser inlet and tape over or cover with plugs every opened fragment that you removed from the line. After that, take off the fitting connecting the liquid line to the condenser outlet. Put plugs or tape on all uncovered refrigerant line fittings. Take out the two screws holding the radiator and fan shroud module inside the upper radiator crossmember and then pull out the condenser cooling module from the car. At installation, detach the plugs or tape from the refrigerant line openings on the liquid line and condenser outlet, attach the two lines and tighten the connection to 22.59 ± 3.39 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.). Release the plugs or tape over the ends of the refrigerant line tubes on the discharge line and the condenser inlet, twist the lines together and fasten them to each other by hand tightening to a torque of 22.59 ± 3.39 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.). Locate all air seals involved in air conditioning around the condenser and radiator, fix the battery negative cable, empty the coolant and complete the charging process of the refrigerant. If you install a new condenser, fill the refrigerant system with 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the special refrigerant oil for your car's compressor.
