2001 Dodge Dakota Wheel Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service and repair a wheel cylinder on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, remove the wheel and tire from the vehicle before taking out the brake drum to work on the wheel cylinder. Separate the wheel cylinder brake line, remove the brake shoe return springs and draw the shoes away from the cylinder push rods. After that, take out the bolts that hold the cylinder and lift the cylinder from the support plate. To install, apply silicone on the support plate around where the cylinder mounts, bolt it in with the 4 cylinder mounting bolts and tighten them to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Join the brake line to the cylinder, return the return spring to its place and set the brake drum. Afterward, put on the wheel and tire, then bleed the base brake system.
