2001 Dodge Dakota Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a 4X2 Front Wheel Speed Sensor on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: You should raise and support the 4X2 vehicle before fixing the front Wheel Speed Sensor. Unscrew the bolt connecting the sensor to the steering knuckle and then pull off the wire clamps from the control arm and inner fender panel. In the engine compartment, remove the sensor wire from the harness and take out the sensor. Set the sensor in the knuckle and lift it into position, using the sensor bolts to attach it and tighten them to 21 Nm (190 inch lbs.). Screw the sensor wire retaining clamps onto the control arm and fender panel and plug the sensor wire into the harness connector close to the engine. Keep the wire away from any moving or very hot parts underneath the hood. Also, check the wire by moving the steering wheel back and forth to confirm everything is clear from the steering and suspension system, then take out the supports and lower the car. Since using substitutes isn't allowed, you must always get factory replacement parts for the bolts that secure the front sensor.
