2001 Dodge Neon Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Washer Pump for Your Windshield on 2001 Dodge Neon?
A: Before working on the windshield washer motor, disconnect the negative battery cable, isolate it and lift your car on a hoist. Take out the wire from the reservoir pump and the washer hose at the pump to let the reservoir's contents empty. Pull the pump up and out of the grommet, making sure not to tear the reservoir. Pull out the rubber grommet from the reservoir. If the pump is failing, discard the grommet, but if just swapping the reservoir, you can keep the grommet. Before installing the washer pump, put a new grommet into the drain. Slide the grommet into the reservoir, drop in the pump and press tightly to snap it in and avoid doing any damage to the reservoir. Next, link the hose at the pump to the washer, fill the reservoir, then return the wire connector to the pump after filling the reservoir. Following the removal of the cable, open the hoist and put the car back onto the ground, then connect the negative battery cable.
