2001 Dodge Ram 2500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
- Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System for Discharge Hose on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500?A: Start by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable and then take out the refrigerant from the entire refrigerant system. Remove the wire harness connector from the a/c high pressure switch and take out the suction line refrigerant line coupler from the accumulator, always inserting plugs in or using tape over any opened refrigerant fittings. Unscrew the nut joining the block fitting to the stud on the condenser and then remove the discharge line from the condenser, installing plugs into or taping up the opened refrigerant line fittings. On these models, unscrew the nut joining the refrigerant line bracket to the stud on the compressor bracket. Later, take the screw off holding the refrigerant line manifold to the compressor and tape or insert plugs over every opened refrigerant line fitting. When you do this, make sure to remove the suction and discharge line assembly from the car next. To install the equipment, take off the tape or plugs at all refrigerant line fittings and connect the suction line refrigerant line coupler to the accumulator. Place the new gasket and block fitting over the stud on the inlet of the condenser, tighten the mounting nut to 20 Nm (180 in. lbs.) and install a new white Teflon sealing washer over the nut. Join the refrigerant line manifold to the compressor and tighten the securing bolt to 22 Nm (200 in. lbs.). On these models, place the nut provided with the engine on the stud found on the compressor, ensuring you tighten it to 22 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Attach the wire harness connector to the high pressure switch, link the battery negative wire again, remove the gas from the refrigerant system and then add new refrigerant.
