2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Blower Motor Resistor on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before working on the blower motor resistor, make sure to disconnect and remove the car's negative battery cable. Then, tap on the locking tab to free the wire harness connector from the blower motor resistor and after that, remove the resistor connector from the blower motor. Take out the two screws joining the blower motor resistor to the HVAC housing and take out the resistor. Put the new blower motor resistor inside the HVAC housing and ensure it is installed in the right way, as the housing can only be indexed for one position, then tighten the mounting screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After that, attach the wire harness connector to the blower motor resistor and then link the other connector from the resistor to the blower motor. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal as the last step.
