How to Maintain and Fix an Oxygen Sensor on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?

Always make sure the engine is cool before you service or repair the oxygen sensor, as the exhaust manifold, pipes and catalytic converter heat up while running. First, lift and secure the vehicle, then remove the connector from the O2S sensor without pulling on the wire connected to it. To take out the O2S sensor, rely on a special removal and installation tool and then clean the threads in the exhaust pipe using the proper tap. Notice that the threads of the new O2S sensor come including anti-seize compound, therefore there is no need to use any more. Hold the O2S sensor in position and tighten the bolt to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.), then connect the O2S sensor wire connector after that and lower the vehicle.
