2001 Jeep Wrangler Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Wiper Motor on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should start by cutting and taking away the battery negative cable. Take the rear wiper arm off from the rear wiper motor output shaft. At the bottom of the liftglass, disconnect the rear wiper motor from the back by removing its output shaft nut, bezel and the rubber gasket. Three screws hold the trim cover on the rear wiper motor bracket inside the liftglass; after removing these screws, pull off the trim cover. Pull the wire connector from the hardtop off the pigtail wire connector. Leave the right liftglass hinge nut in place, but back the nut off by turning it with a chisel and then carefully pull the rear wiper motor away until the hole is clear of the output shaft. Bring the motor over to the right until the slotted hole passes the grommet and remove the motor from the liftglass. While installing, position the wiper motor inside the liftglass and move it to the left, so the slotted hole fits the grommet under the liftglass hinge nut on your right. Tighten the right liftglass hinge nut to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.) after which you should connect the hardtop wire harness connector. Cut the trim cover hole over the rear wiper motor and put the part in place, fastening it with the three screws to 1Nm (10 in. lbs.). First, put the rubber gasket over the rear wiper motor output shaft, then install the nut and bezel unit and tighten the nut to 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.). Place the rear wiper arm on the rear wiper motor's output shaft and then link the battery negative cable.
