2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Throttle Body Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Body on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: You should start by taking off the air cleaner lid, unplugging the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose and removing the negative battery cable. When your bike is equipped, remove the engine cover or throttle control shield. Following this, undo the throttle cable from the lever, lift the tabs on the cable and pull it out of its holder. If there is a control for speed on your throttle, push the clerpp out of its hole and remove the speed cable from the lever. First, pull out the purge hose from the throttle body nipple, then detach both the electrical connectors from the throttle position sensor and the idle air control motor. Tighten the mounting bolts holding the bracket to the cable by removing the two screws inside. Gently lift the throttle body straight out of the engine to remove it. During installation, connect the electrical cables to the idle air control motor and throttle position sensor, check that the throttle body gasket is there and secure it in the manifold. Set the throttle body on top of the intake and fasten it with the supplied bolts, without making them super tight. Fit the throttle cable bracket and don't tighten the bolts for the time being. Adjust the throttle body bolts to 28.5 ± 4 N.m (250 ± 35 in. lbs.) and the throttle cable bracket bolts to 11.75 ± 2.25 N.m (105 ± 20 in. lbs.) torque. Slide the EVAP purge hose back over the engine mount, attach the retainer tabs to the bracket and turn the throttle lever forward to the widest position. After that, fit the throttle control shield, join the battery cable to the negative terminal and replace the lid on the air cleaner, attaching the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose.
