2002 Dodge Neon Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Air Bag Control Module for Side Impact on 2002 Dodge Neon?
A: When servicing the Side Impact air bag Control Module, open the hood and unconnect the battery negative cable first. Open the lower seat trim to get to the seat air bag connector below the seat on its outboard side and detach the harness side of the cable to trigger the shorting clips and turn off the side impact air bag system. Next, take off the B-pillar trim from the side you need and the seat belt retractor. Make sure you don't take the Siacm out of the mounting bracket, as it will be replaced along with the Siacm. After the Siacm is out of the B-pillar, remove the covering on the back of it and then pull it off. Installation involves connecting the electrical connector, fixing the Siacm inside the B-pillar and tightening the retaining nuts to 41 Nm (360 in. lbs.). Cover the top rear weld stud with the ground eyelet to help stop the harness from spinning when you latchet it tight. Bad, reinstall the seat belt retractor and the lower B-pillar trim, plug in the harness side of the connector and install the lower seat trim. Be sure to inspect and check the air bag system before putting the battery negative cable back in. Make sure to close the hood and check that everything works in your vehicle.
