2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install the Camshaft Position Sensor on a 3.7L V-6 Engine on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You will find the Camshaft Position Sensor for the 3.7L V-6 engine in the area above or in front of the right cylinder head. Before taking out the sensor, make sure to cut off power to the sensor, then loosen and remove the sensor's bolt and carefully twist the sensor from the cylinder head as you pay attention to the O-ring underneath. Practice safety first and then clean the machined hole in the cylinder head. After that, use a tiny amount of engine oil on the sensor O-ring. Put the heated area of the sensor into the surface of the cylinder head and, using a slight back and forth motion, ensure it is firmly in place. Once it is flush, tighten the bolt to 12 Nm (106 in. lbs). Lastly, join the electrical connector to the sensor.
