2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Remove a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: To remove the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) from the throttle body, remove the air resonator tube, cut the TPS wiring connector and remove four screws that hold the sensor in place. To install, slide the throttle shaft end of the throttle body into a test-hole on the TPS, leaving a few degrees of rotation; if the TPS doesn't rotate, flip the throttle shaft and position it where some pressure is applied on the test-hole tangs. Screw in the TPS using the two retaining bolts until they are tightened to 7 Nm. After that, use your hand to move the throttle control lever to make sure there is no binding on the TPS, then reconnect the TPS connector.
