2002 Dodge Ram 1500 MAP Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a MAP Sensor on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: During any service or repair, the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, on the front of the intake manifold and held in place with an O-ring, should be handled gently. Disconnect the electrical cord from the sensor and cleaning the area around it should be your first step. Unscrew the two mounting bolts to separate the MAP sensor from the manifold and check whether the O-ring is damaged. While doing the installation, be sure to clean the area in the manifold around the MAP sensor and examine the O-ring for any tears. Set the sensor inside the manifold and fasten the bolts to 3 Nm (25 in. lbs.), then tighten further using the appropriate tool. The last step is to connect the electrical connector.
