2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Coolant Temperature Sensor on a 4.0L Engine on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first step in service of the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor on a 4.0L engine is to empty some cooling fluid to avoid being burned by hot, pressurized liquid. After that, unplug the electrical connector from the sensor attached to the thermostat and pull out the sensor from the machine. Position the new sensor and tighten it by hand until it has a torque of 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). Once again hook up the electrical connector to the sensor and add any missing engine coolant.
