2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee MAP Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install a MAP Sensor on the Throttle Body on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The MAP sensor is placed on the side of the throttle body and a rubber fitting with a bend (L-shape) attaches it. You need to remove the air cleaner duct and air resonator box at the throttle body before you can remove the sensor. Next, undo the two screws holding on the MAP sensor and, while you do that, move the L-shaped gasket from the throttle body and off the sensor. To install the sensor, first attach the rubber L-shaped fitting to the MAP sensor. Then, fit the sensor into place on the throttle body where the fitting can be guided onto the throttle body vacuum nipple and finish by tightening the mounting bolts to 3 Nm (25 in. lbs.) torque. Replace the air cleaner duct and the air box.
