For hydraulic lifter maintenance with rocker arms installed and fitted, take off the cylinder head cover then the camshafts and rocker arm. After draining the engine, release each lifter and mark them upstairs so that you can put them back in the same positions, since service is done on the entire assembly. Before installing the hydraulic lifters, confirm that they have a small amount of engine oil. Push down on the plunger of the hydraulic lifter: it should not box in until after installation. Then, put on the rocker arm and after that set in the camshafts, then the cylinder head cover.
