2002 Jeep Liberty Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Front Wheel Speed Sensor on 2002 Jeep Liberty?
A: Remove the front wheel speed sensor wire connector from the inboard side of the vehicle's wheel house. Lift the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel assembly next. Then, carefully remove the caliper adapter so that the disc brake caliper is reliably supported and won't damage the brake hose. Then, after the first removal, pull out the disc brake rotor and undo the wheel speed sensor's connecting bolt on the hub. Take the wire from the wheel speed sensor off of the hub/bearing and remove the wire hold down from the knuckle. Pass the wire from the sensor through the wheel well and pluck the wheel speed sensor from the vehicle itself. Upon installation, first replace the wheel speed sensor in the vehicle and feed the wire into the wheel well. Connect the fitment wire from the wheel speed sensor to the hub/bearing and then fix the wire down to the knuckle. Mount the wheel speed sensor to the hub with the bolt, set to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). Put the disc brake caliper adapter in place, slide the disc brake rotor over it and fit in the wheel assembly. Reattach the front wheel speed sensor wire connector to the inboard side of the wheel house where you are working.
