2002 Jeep Liberty Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on 2002 Jeep Liberty?
A: First, support and lift your car, then remove the assembly from the wheel and mark the jam nuts on the tie rod end to guide re-installation. Give the tie rod end jam nut a turn or two until it's loose and remove the tie rod end nut. Insert tool C3894A between the tie rod end and the knuckle and count how many times you turn it during removal. Following that, place the tie rod end onto the rack distance, using the same number of turns as when you took it out, then attach it to the knuckle and tighten the nut to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.). Use 76 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) to tighten the jam nut, bolt on the wheel and tire assembly and be sure to set the toe and center the steering wheel.
