2002 Jeep Wrangler Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Antenna Cable on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Initially, separate and disconnect the battery negative cable if you wish to service the antenna cable. Get the glove box out of the overhang and go inside to remove the antenna coaxial cable connector, pulling the metal parts of the coaxial apart and do not grab the cable itself. Take out the antenna mast from the antenna base which can be seen by the right outer cowl side panel. Insert a trim stick or a similar tool into the gap around the antenna and gently pull to pop the trim cover off the antenna body base. Take out the three screws attaching the top of the antenna to the cowl side panel on the right. Inside, you should reach the coaxial cable grommet on the antenna body and push the cable through the inner cowl's small hole, then pull both the body and cable out through the larger hole in the outer cowl. Run the antenna cable and base assembly through the outer side of the cowl panel, then pull them into the cowl side panel through the hole, until the grommet remains fully seated. Attach the three screws that hold the antenna body to the right side of the outer cowl panel, tightening all three to 3.3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) and press the antenna mast into the antenna base. Use your hand to pass the antenna cable from the glove box through the opening to the radio, reattach the glove box to the instrument panel and lastly connect the negative battery cable.
