2003 Dodge Neon Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain an Oxygen Sensor on 2003 Dodge Neon?
A: Before touching the upstream (1/1) O2 sensor, first raise and hold up the vehicle and next, disconnect the sensor connector. Use an oxygen sensor crow foot wrench such as Snap-On tool YA8875 or one that does the job equally well, to remove the sensor. After you remove the pipe, clean the threads on the exhaust manifold with a 10 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. When you plan to reuse the existing sensor, apply an anti-seize product similar to Loctite 771-64. The sensors' threads are coated with compound during manufacturing, so there is no need to coat them after installing them. Attach the sensor with an oxygen sensor crow foot wrench, ensuring it is secured to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque, after which reconnect the connector and bring the vehicle back down.
