2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the rocker arm adjuster assembly on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
A: To work on the rocker arm adjuster assembly, disconnect the spark plug wires by pulling the plug boots out straightly against the ignition setting. Then, take out the cylinder head cover and gasket and then the rocker arm bolts and pivots, storing them on a bench in the way you removed them. After that, remove the push rods and arrange them on a bench just as they came out. Move the crankshaft until the V6 mark is in line with the TDC mark on the timing chain case cover which is found 147' ATDC from where No. 1 ignites. After installing the push rods in the original order, add the rocker arm and pivots and be sure to tighten the rocker arm bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). In order to avoid damage, don't turn or crank the engine after rocker arm installation, as the hydraulic roller tappets must bleed for around 5 minutes. After that, set the cylinder head cover in place and secure the spark plug wires back.
