2004 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Heater Core on 2004 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Before starting the heater core service, turn off the air bag system in vehicles equipped with air bags, disconnect the battery negative (ground) wire, let it stand two minutes to discharge the air bag system capacitor, then drain the components of the system and disconnect them from the air bags. Removing the heater housing and opening the HVAC housing are your first steps to get to the heater core. First, take out the heater core from inside the lower HVAC housing and if it needs to be, detach the three bolts and the whole tube assembly. Get rid of the old heater core tube seals as recommended. While installing, if the heater core tube assembly was taken out, grease two new rubber O-ring seals with engine coolant and place them on the heater core fitting. Join the heater core tube assembly to the heater core if necessary and connect the three retaining bolts with 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). After that, fit the heater core into the bottom half of the HVAC housing, bring the whole housing together and set the housing in place.
