2003 Jeep Liberty Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How Should You Service and Repair Brake Lines on 2003 Jeep Liberty?
A: Brake hose and line service and repair should be done with an performed metal brake tube, unless double-wall steel tube is used in an emergency when the factory parts cannot be used. Preventing twists or kinks in brake tubes needs special tools and ISO flaring requires other special tools. First, remove the broken tube with a Tubing Cutter and then smooth the cut areas with a reamer so they flare correctly. Put the new tube nut onto the tube and use the flaring tool to insert the old end of the tube. Insert the gauge form onto the pipe's end and run the tube through the tool's jaws until it fits in the notch on the gauge for the diameter you want. Tighten down the tool bar on the tube, then push the plug from the gauge into the tube. Swing the compression disc over the gauge and place the tapered flaring screw into the recess on the disc. Pull on the tightening handle to push the plug gauge into the jaws of the flaring tool which starts the inverted flare at the top of the plug. Then, take out the plug gauge and flare the end of the wire from the inside.
