2004 Chrysler Pacifica Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Clamp the brake master cylinder firmly in a vise by the mounting flange, but never touch or put pressure on the piston rod, reservoir, seal or body. Select the proper bleeder tubes, because the outlet ports can be different on brake master cylinders made for vehicles with traction control. If your car does not have traction control, put in a Bleeder Tube, Special Tool 8358-1, at each outlet port and tighten it to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.), then bend the tubes as far down as you can into the fluid reservoir. With each outlet port, thread a Special Tool 8822-2 Adapter in, tighten it to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.), then fit a Bleeder Tube, Special Tool 8358-1, to the Adapter and tighten to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.). Remember that the open ends must stay under brake fluid throughout. Add enough Mopar(R) brake fluid that matches DOT 3 or a like product into the reservoir so the fluid level is visible above the bleeder tubes. Holding one end of a wooden dowel in the brake master cylinder, slowly push down the pistons and set them free, doing this several times as you keep the fluid from dropping. Once bleeding is finished, take out the bleeder tubes, shut the outlet ports and close the reservoir with the fill cap. Remove the brake master cylinder from the vise and secure it back onto the vehicle.
