2004 Chrysler Pacifica Brake Disc Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Disc on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: The first step to working on the front brake disc is to raise the car, take off the tire and remove the wheel assembly. There is a good chance that you may need to pull outward on the back of the caliper slightly to remove it, retracting the piston if necessary; never apply direct force to the caliper piston since this may harm it. After that, take out the bolts that connect the disc brake caliper adapter to the steering knuckle and take off this whole assembly, holding it securely so that the brake hoses do not overstretch. Separate the brake disc from its attachments and remove it from the wheel studs as you take off the clips. Check the brake shoes ahead of installation and make sure the hub face is clean of dirt or corrosion. First, slide the new brake disc onto the studs of the hub and bearing. Next, fit the disc brake caliper and adapter on top of the rotor. Attach the caliper adapter to the steering knuckle by fastening the mounting bolts to a torque of 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.). Put back the tire and wheel onto the vehicle, tightening the wheel nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), before you lower the car again. Test the brakes by pumping the pedal a few times before driving off. Check the brake fluid and replace it if necessary. Neither the road test nor your brake maintenance is complete until the brakes are fully seated.
