2005 Chrysler Pacifica Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Start by clamping the brake master cylinder in a vise by its mounting flange to ensure you do not press on its piston rod, reservoir, seal or body. Pick the correct bleeder tube since the outlet placement will change depending on the level of traction control for the vehicle. For a non-traction control brake master cylinder, connect a Bleeder Tube, Special Tool 8358-1, to every outlet port, tighten them to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.) and curve the tubes so the open ends rest as close to the bottom of the reservoir as they will go. After putting an Adapter and Bleeder Tube, Special Tool 8822-2 and 8358-1 respectively, on every outlet port, make sure both are tightened to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.) and that the openings of the bleeder tubes are beneath the fluid when you fill the reservoir. Pour in Mopar brake fluid or a similar kind called DOT 3, so the fluid covers the open ends of the bleeder tubes. Simply put a wooden dowel in the brake master cylinder and block and slowly push the piston, then release the pressure, until there are no air bubbles in the fluid. After you have bled the system, unscrew the bleeder tubes, block the outlet ports with rubber caps and install the fill cap on the reservoir. Only then can you take the brake master cylinder out of the vise and install it onto the car.
