2004 Dodge Dakota Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Parking Brake Cable on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: The front parking brake cable needs to be raised first, during which you should loosen the adjusting bolt and pull the front cable off the tensioner. Take out the cable in front and allow the car to be lower, before removing the left kick panel. Lift the left front flap of the floor covering behind it and take out the grommet in the floor pan. Release the cable from the park brake pedal and move the entire assembly up through the floor pan to free the cable near the front. For installation, hook the front cable under the floor and put in the grommet. Drop the retainer into the bottom of the pedal assembly bracket and secure the cable at the end of it. Fold the floor covering aside and attach the kick panel back in place. Place the vehicle on stands, link the rear cable to the support cable, position the front cable onto the tensioner, secure the parking brakes, detach and raise the vehicle, lower the vehicle and then put the stands away.
