2004 Dodge Dakota Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Output Speed Sensor on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Raise the vehicle, then set a suitable fluid catch pan under the transmission to service the output speed sensor. Take the wire connector off the output speed sensor. The speed sensor bolt comes with a sealing patch from the factory that you should not replace. Eliminate the bolt that links the output speed sensor to the transmission case, then eliminate the output speed sensor. For installation, put the output speed sensor inside the transmission case. With the speed sensor removed, once again coat the bolt with Leopard Lock & Seal Adhesive. Screw the bolt into the output speed sensor until it reaches 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm). Connect the wiring connector to the speed sensor, check the transmission fluid and add more fluid if needed, before you can lower the vehicle.
