2004 Dodge Dakota Vapor Canister Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install a Vapor Canister on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: The EVAP canister is found below the car, set within the left frame rail, closer to the front of where the fuel tank is. Before getting rid of the tank, support the vehicle on stands and remove the hoses from the EVAP canister. Give special attention to the lines when you disconnect them. After that, take out the canister mounting nut and remove the canister from the bracket. To install the side canister, place the locating pins in the bracket grommets, add the mounting nut and tighten it to 17 - 24 N.m (150 - 210 in.lbs.). Next, link the vacuum lines together at the canister and lower the vehicle.
