To do either service, make sure to lift and help secure the car, then saturate the clamp nuts with Mopar Rust Penetrant and wait 5 minutes. Completely remove both of the muffler clamp nuts from the front and rear sections. Get rid of the tailpipe support, disconnect the muffler from the tailpipe and remove it from the extension pipe or catalytic converter flange. When installing, if you took off the upper front muffler support, put the bolts into the frame and tighten them to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). Keep the insulators beneath the upper and lower muffler hangers. Put the muffler in the extension pipe or catalytic converter flange, clamp it and then finger tighten the nuts. Put the tailpipe into the back of the muffler and tighten the clamp nuts on the front and back muffler hangers to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Set the car down, begin its engine and check for leaks from the exhaust system, making needed repairs. Check if the exhaust comes into contact with the body panels and take care of any issues.
