- Q: How to Remove and Install a Canister Purge Valve for Various Engine Types on 2004 Dodge Dakota?A: Both the left-rear and right-rear sides of the engine compartment have the duty cycle EVAP canister purge valve for the 3.9/5.2/5.9L and 2.5L engines, respectively, close to the power brake vacuum unit. The first step is to remove both the electrical wiring connector and the vacuum harness at the valve before you remove it. Afterward, remove both of the mounting nuts from the support bracket and remove the valve along with the bracket. Place the purge valve and bracket where you want them, mount the bracket using the nuts and make the nuts secure by tightening them to 8 N.m (75 in.lbs.). In the end, reattach the harness and the wiring connector.
