How to Service an Exhaust Heat Shield on 2004 Dodge Dakota?

Raise the vehicle and support it before you start working on the heat shields. Loosen and take out the screws or nuts that hold the heat shields in place on the frame or floor pan. Removing the muffler heat shield should be done by starting with the removal of its front support bracket. Take out the shields that go over the exhaust system. Lay down the heat shields close to the floor pan or frame, fasten them with the supplied screws and nuts and attach them to the specific torque value. The last step is to lower the vehicle.
