2004 Dodge Dakota Exhaust Pipe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Exhaust Pipe on a 3.7L Engine on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step is to raise and support the car, apply some Mopar Rust Penetrant to the bolts and nuts and wait for 5 minutes. You may disconnect the oxygen sensor(s) to avoid protection risks to the harness or sensor. Before you remove the exhaust pipe, take off the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust pipe nuts, remove the exhaust pipe to converter exhaust clamp and separate the exhaust pipe from the front flange of the catalytic converter. For installation, fasten the exhaust pipe(s) to the exhaust manifold and turn the nuts until they are tightened to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Attach the exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter flange, fasten it with an exhaust clamp and tighten the clamp nuts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Connect all oxygen sensor wiring, lower the car and let it idle to find potential exhaust leaks. After that, check if there is contact between the exhaust and body panels and take care of any problems found.
