2004 Dodge Sprinter 3500 A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Accumulator on 2004 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Before servicing or repairing an A/C accumulator, recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Get rid of the bolts connecting the front and rear sections of the A/C refrigerant line at the top of the A/C accumulator, separate each fitting and throw out the O-ring seals. Put tape or a plug over the A/C accumulator ports and liquid line fittings, then loosen and take the A/C accumulator out of the engine compartment. With a new A/C accumulator, pour 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of recommended refrigerant oil into the system before charging it. Lay the A/C accumulator on the bracket positioned at the left front strut tower and secure it with the included clamp. Don't forget to uncover the tape or remove the plugs and clean oil the new rubber O-rings on the liquid line fittings and the A/C accumulator ports. Join the front and rear sections of the liquid line with the A/C accumulator, set the bolts on the fittings to the A/C accumulator at 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.) and tighten them. The next step is to empty the block and fill the system with refrigerant.
