2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the A/C Switch for Optimal Performance on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The air bag system should be turned off by isolating the battery negative cable and you need to let it discharge for two minutes to avoid accidental deployment before working on the heater control of your A/C. Carefully remove both center upper and central lower bezels from the instrument panel. After that, loosen and remove the four screws holding the A/C heater control to the dash panel, then pull the unit away to reveal the connections in the back. Unconnect the wire or vacuum harness connectors from the heater control and lift the assembly out. First, reconnect the wire or vacuum harness at the control's back, fit the control into the instrument panel and finish by attaching it with the four screws, tightened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Reinstall the central bezels above and below your instrument panel and then plug the negative terminal of the battery back in.
